For many years OIL’s Charitable Contributions Committee has provided individual donations to a diverse spectrum of Bermuda charities as OIL’s corporate headquarters are located in Bermuda. This year the Committee decided to focus its annual financial gifting toward fewer charities and with larger donations in order to make a significant impact where support is seen to be needed.
We encourage our staff to be active in supporting community giving programs which include internal fund raising events, annual “day of giving” activities, mentorships and volunteering their time through service to a wide variety of Bermuda charities. The following highlights a few of our recent initiatives:
The OIL Group of Companies assists with restoration of 2 cannons at St. George's Town Hall
OIL has been a longtime supporter of the Bermuda National Museum and the St. George's Foundation and recently partnered with both organizations to restore two beautiful cannons which now guard the entrance to the Town Hall on the square in St. George, a World Heritage site.

OIL Staff volunteer at the Windreach Recreational Village (May 2015)
The Company once again selected Windreach Bermuda for our Community Service Day. We made a cash donation to them and also gave them the gift of “free labor”. Twenty two volunteers from the office participated in the sensory trail clean-up, it was amazing how many weeds and invasive plants we pulled and hauled away. We then layered the cleared area with mulch. A great day was had by all.
Windreach caters to people with special needs and provides a full-time staff at their facility and a stimulating environment for all to enjoy. Their facility receives approximately 120 visitors a week.

The OIL Group of Companies sponsors the 2014 Special Olympics
Our staff recently held a denim fundraising week and raised $3,600 for Special Olympics. Our donation will help to send 16 athletes to the 2014 Special Olympics to be held in Philadelphia in June. Below are four of the students who will be going from Somerset Primary School:
The OIL Group of Companies sponsors 125 students to attend the CPC 2014 Summer Day Camp
OIL’s Charitable Contributions Committee was drawn to sponsoring the CPC Summer Camp initiative once again because of the tremendous need that unfortunately still exists for many of Bermuda’s children and their families in the current economic climate.
The OIL Group recently presented a check in the amount of $72,500 to The Coalition for the Protection of Children for the second year in a row in support of their children's summer camp initiative. In 2013, the funds sent 75 children to summer camps for 4-6 weeks. This year funds were used to send 125 children to 4 weeks of summer camp.
The children benefiting from this initiative are ‘at risk’ children identified by the Coalition for the Protection of Children “CPC” client base. The Summer Camp initiative ensures that these children are engaged in fun activities in safe environments that have been screened and approved by the CPC.

The OIL Group of Companies supports the Bermuda Hospital Charitable Trust's 'Why it Matters' Campaign
The OIL Group of Companies recently donated $275,000 to the 'Why it Matters' Campaign to benefit the Bermuda Hospital Charitable Trust. The OIL Group has always fostered a long-term commitment to Bermuda and as such, it was only natural to make a pledge to support the 'Why it Matters' Campaign. The BHCT is responsible for the redevelopment of our hospital that serves the Bermuda community.
